When working with your own instance you have access to two special accounts.

  • admin

  • backoffice

The initial passwords of these accounts are contained in the config file.

With these accounts you get access to a dashboard that allows you to monitor and maintain your instance. The dashboard is accesible from the Ellipsis Drive UI when logged in as one of these users.

The dashboard consits of two sections

  • A dashboard to manage users

  • A dashboard to check system health

Kubernetes

Ellipsis Drive runs on Dockers and is compatible with Kubernetes. It is possible but not required to manage the scaling of your instance using Kubernetes.

User dashboard

In the user dashboard you can see the total storage of a user and manage their quotas. You can also find information on usage intensity and other statistics.

System health dashboard

In the system health dashboard you are able to see the current status of each of the Ellipsis Drive nodes as well as past cpu and memory usage. You can also see to which degree you still have space left on your active raster and vector data storage nodes.

Difference between admin and back office accounts

With the admin account you are able to access any piece of content you have in the system, regardless of the permission settings that the creator of the piece of content has set on it. With the back office account you are only able to see system metadata and manage users, but not able to actually access user content itself.

Trouble shoot

In case your Ellipsis Drive instance is not performing well we recommend the following procedure.

Head to the system health dashboard and undertake the following actions if the conditions hold true.

Add an additional virtual machine to the API pool.

The dashboard indicates the raster storage to be full or almost full

Add an additional virtual machine to the raster storage pool, or increase the disk size of an already existing virtual machine.

The dashboard indicates the vector storage to be full or almost full

Add an additional virtual machine to the vector storage pool, or increase the disk size of an already existing virtual machine.

The dashboard indicates that all nodes in the raster activation pool have a job and it takes long to activate raster data

Add additional virtual machines to the raster activation pool

The dashboard indicates that all nodes in the vector activation pool have a job and it takes long to activate raster data

Add additional virtual machines to the vector activation pool

API calls take long but the dashboard does not indicate high CPU usage

Add an additional virtual Machine to the cache storage pool

The dashboard indicates the file storage to be full or almost full

Increase the size of your storage volume.
